After a brilliant afternoon session in which we saw two 9 darter attempts miss on double 12 it’s time for the evening session and the last two quarter finals. Gary Anderson and Jelle Klaasen are already in the quarter finals but who will join them? That will be decided very soon.
In the first game of the evening session, we see Michael van Gerwens conquerer Raymond van Barneveld take on the Bully Boy Michael Smith. The 5 time champion of the world played in one of the greatest games of all time to beat MvG, and will have to do similar to beat an Inform Michael Smith. Smith who beat Benito van de Pas in the last 16 is throwing 180s for fun and is now looking to reach his first PDC Major semi final. Barneys experience could be the telling factor, but if Michael takes his chances we could have another cracking game on our hands.
In the final quarter final we have 2 times world champion Adrian Lewis, as he takes on fans favourite Peter Wright. In the last 16 Peter overcame a match dart from Dave Chisnall to progress, while Lewis (who is yet to drop a set) trashed Mensur Suljovic 4-0. Lewis is arguably the most naturally gifted player on the planet, and if his rhythm is back for tonight’s match he should be given chances, but Peter Wright is no mug on the oche, and is the better finisher of the pair, and is a sure shot to hit his doubles. Which ever way this game goes the winner will have to play really really well and will deserve their place in the semi finals.
