Michael van Gerwen was crowned the Players Championship winner for the second consecutive year after a 11-3 win over Dave Chisnall im the Final.
In the first semi final MVG seen off Darren Webster in a game in which he sensationally trailed 6-0, but came back really well winning six legs on the spin in 12,16,18,11,18 and 16 darts to level at 6-6.
Webster did regain the lead at 7-6 with a 15 darter.
Van Gerwen responded perfectly with a sensational TEN dart leg picking out D16 to level at 7-7.
Webster once again regained the lead with a 14 darter taking out 96 on D18 to make it 8-7.
Van Gerwen however won FOUR legs on the spin to defeat Webster and book his place in the final after hitting a 15 darter to make it 8-8 after Webster narrowly missed tops for a 160 finish.
It took van Gerwen just 15 darts to move 9-8 infront taking out 68.
Van Gerwen won a scrappy leg to make it 10-8 with both players missing their chance at the doubles.
Van Gerwen closed out the match with a breathtaking 144 finish (T18,T18,D18) in 15 darts.
The second semi-final featured Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall a game in which Dave Chisnall controlled as he was fantastic at the start of the match as he fired in a 14 darter to move 1-0 ahead.
He doubled his lead after taking out 96 on D18, then back came Wright as he had a 13 darter taking out D6 after narrowly missing D12 for a 141.
Chisnall extended his lead to 3-1 with a 13 darter of his own taking out D6.
Wright responded with a 52 outshot and a 14 darter to go in at the break at 2-3.
Chisnall came out of the break on fire as he raced into a 8-2 lead winning FIVE legs on the spin in 12,14,17,13 and 13 darts respectively.
Wright hit two maximums in leg 11 and took out D12 for a 13 darter to make it 3-8.
Chisnall went two legs away from the final with a 15 dart leg taking out D5 to move 9-3 ahead.
Wright won the next three legs on the bounce taking out 127 for a 15 darter to make it 4-9, then fired in a 13 darter to make it 5-9 and took his chance to make it 6-9 after taking out D8 in 16 darts.
Chisnall moved into a 10-6 lead with a superb 14 darter picking out D6.
Wright wasn’t finished as he took out 60 just after Chisnall fired in a maximum to make it 7-10.
Wright took the next leg with a 101 finish just after Chisnall missed a dart at the bull for the match.
Chisnall booked his place in the final after Wright missed two darts at D8 and took out the same double himself for a 11-8 win and set up a Final with Michael van Gerwen.
Michael van Gerwen dominated proceedings in the Final as he kicked off with a 13 darter picking out D8, he extended his lead to 2-0 taking out 52, but back came Chisnall firing in a 121 finish on the bull to make it 1-2.
Van Gerwen hit a 13 darter to make it 3-1 and he looked to make it 4-1 leaving 88 after nine, but Chisnall took out D7 for a 13 darter to pull it back to 2-3 at the interval.
Van Gerwen went on to win the next FIVE legs on the spin making it 8-2 firing in three maximums in five legs.
Chisnall did get it back to 3-8 taking out 54 but unfortunately that was the last leg he would win as MVG won the last three legs on the spin in 13,14 and a sublime 11 darter in the last leg taking out 87 to retain his Players Championship crown averaging a whopping 108.34 average.
