Today I am joined by Cleveland county darts star Allan Edwards, Edwards reached the last 32 of the winmau world masters in hull recently, where he lost to the number 3 seed Jamie Hughes.
Edwards has won a lot in the last 3 years and is really finding his form at the moment, his moment recent victories are:
Cleveland super league champion
Cleveland super league pairs title four times
Byers Green open winner
Teeside ranking events Grand Final winner
Isle of Man pairs winner with Martin c Atkins
TS: Thanks for joining me Allan so how was Hull overall for you? you had to beat some good players to get to the last 32
Edwards: “Hull was great i was living my dream played well all day Thursday, Unfortunately made mistakes Friday but I have learnt a lot”
TS:Cleveland darts have a great little team at the minute world number one Glen Durrant, yourself and Jordan Matthews to name a few how is morale at Cleveland?
Edwards:” Cleveland moral is high at the moment we have a great mens a team and because of Glen s ranking event s there’s a lot of new players coming along wanting to play county”
TS:What is your aim for the rest of the year?
Edwards:” . My aim this year is keep practicing and try again next year”
TS: How pleased were you for your friend Glen Durrant as he won the winmau world masters?
Edwards:” Over the moon for Glen its a privileged to play along side him”
TS:What darts do you throw with?
Edwards:” My darts are troulon darts 21 grams bought when I was 16. 38 years ago”
TS: There is a lot of hype surrounding Cleveland youngster Jordan Matthews just how good is this kid?
Edwards: “Jordan’s a good player very confident already in the a team but like a lot of good young players they don’t have a job and have a lot of practice time, a day on a building site would definitely affect his game as it does mine”
TS:Do you do the whole BDO circuit or just selected events?
Edwards: “I only select a few comps due to the cost been self employed its hard”
TS: Do you find much time to practise ?
Edwards: “I practice most nights on my own i have a good set up at home”
TS:When you do practise do you play alone or with a partner?
Edwards: “I have a good mate who i can practice with but mainly at home”
TS: Whats next for you in the darts world?
Edwards: “The next big comp will be Isle of Man”
TS: Would you ever have a go at PDC Qualifying school?
Edwards:”PDC I would love to have a go but been self employed its all about money”
TS:Whos the toughest opponent you have faced?
Edwards:” Glen Durrant is the toughest opponent I have ever faced”
