Martin Adams 2-1 Kevin McDine (0-3, 3-1, 3-1)
Kevin McDine came out flying in the 1st set against Wolfie Adams with a break of throw in the 1st leg of the game, Martin Adams threw the second leg away with several missed dart and Kevin took advantage to take a 2-0 lead in the 1st set.
Wolfie hit the first maximum of the game in leg 3, but again it was missed doubles that cost the 1st set as Adams could not finish and McDine stepped up to take 65 and took the first set 3-0.
The Second set started with Kevin McDine holding throw and took the first leg, In the second and third legs it was missed doubles for McDine as Adams won on his throw in leg 2 and then broke McDine in leg 3 to take a 2-1 leg in the set.
The 4th leg was all Adams as he hit a superb 12 dart league with a 126 checkout to take the 2nd set 3-1.
The 3rd set and Kevin’s scoring let him down in this set and the lost him the game, Adams held his throw in the 1st leg, Adams then broke McDine’s throw in the second leg as some poor scoring let Kevin down, The 3rd leg Kevin broke back as both players looked nervous on the doubles, Kevin won the leg finally with a 8 checkout.
The final leg of the game and Kevin’s scoring went wondering, scores of 60,45,57,60 are not god enough when facing a player like Martin Adams, and Wolfie took advantage and took out double8 for the leg, the set and the match
Danny Noppert 2-0 Mats Gies (3-1, 3-2)
The second semi-final was between Danny Noppert and Mats Gies, A strong start from Danny as he starts with a superb 12 darter 140, 134, 180, and 47.
The second leg saw Noppert break the Gies throw with another super 12 darts 140,140,100,121 which saw the checkout of 25, 60 and double 18 for the leg.
The 3rd leg Mats broke back with a 180 and an 80 checkout to make it 2-1.
Was all about missed doubles in the 4th leg of the 1st set as both players struggled to win the leg, but eventually Danny took the leg and the 1st set 3-1,
The Second set 1st leg saw a maximum from Danny Noppert but some strong scoring from Mats secured the leg with a 36 checkout,
The second leg saw some poor scoring from Mats and Danny took advantage and the leg.
Some great scoring in the 3rd leg by both players but Mats took the leg with a 60 checkout,
The 4th leg was back to both players having troubles hitting those doubles, both scored very well in the leg and Mats hit a maximum as well, but with several missed darts at doubles, Danny took the leg and moved to within 1 leg of victory.
The 5th leg and Danny Noppert struggled to get over the finishing line, some high scoring from both players but Mats had 12 darts to win the leg and missed, Danny himself had 7 match winning darts missed before finally taking out double top for a 3-2 win in the set and a 2-0 match win.
The final would be contested between the 2015 winner Martin Adams and local hope Danny Noppert.
Priscilla Steenbergen won the Dutch Open Girls tournament by beating Kyana Frauenfelder 3-0 in the final.
Gian Van Veen won the boys under 14 open beating Owen Roelofs 3-0
The Boys under 18 final saw Maikel Verbeck win a close battle against Justin Van Tergouw 4-3, Justin just missing tops for a 145 finish to win the game himself, some good darts by the youngsters.
Lisa Ashton is the 2016 Dutch Darts Open champion after a thrilling 5-4 victory over Lorraine Winstanley,
Lorraine broke the Lisa Ashton throw on the very first leg to go 1-0 up, which quickly became 2-0 as Lisa missed a 130 checkout.
The 3rd leg went to Lisa after some superb scoring.
Poor scoring from Lisa in the 4th leg led to Lorraine making it 3-1
The 5th leg saw a maximum from Lisa Ashton and she won the leg with a checkout of 20, 3-2 Lorraine.
Back came Lorraine in the 6th leg with a couple of 140’s and Lorraine moves to within 1 leg of victory 4-2.
The 7th leg went the way of Lisa Ashton as Lorraine scored poorly 4-3 Lorraine Winstanley.
Another maximum from Lisa in leg 8 meant a break of throw and the game is all tied at 4-4
Lisa Ashton wrapped up the 2016 title with a very impressive 14 dart leg 41, 140, 140, 140, 40 and a 5-4 victory over Lorraine Winstanley.
Brilliant Adams goes Double Dutch!!
Martin Adams successfully defended his Dutch Open title after a 3-1 victory over Danny Noppert,
The 1st set started with a break of the Adams throw and Danny Noppert takes the opening leg, it was soon to be 2-0 as Noppert took out 16 to make it 2-0,
Some poor scoring from Noppert and some high scoring from Adams makes it 2-1 to Noppert in the 3rd leg,
Adams breaks the Noppert through and wins the 4th leg with the help of a maximum and its 2-2,
Some poor scoring costs Noppert again in the last leg and Adams takes out tops to win the 1st set 3-2
The second set was all Wolfie, a 13 dart and 2 18 dart legs and Adams breezes through the second set 3-0
Noppert battles back in the 3rd set with superb checkouts of 170 and 161 to win the set 3-1,
Noppert starts the 4th set with a superb 12 darter 140, 140, 180, 41 checkout.
Adams battles back to win the second leg to tie the set up at 1-1,
The 3rd leg and Adams breaks the Noppert throw even though Danny hits a maximum in the leg, 2-1 Adams.
Adams hits a crucial maximum of his own in the 4th leg and takes out double 10 to win the 2016 Dutch Darts Open.
In total Adams had to win 11 games to win and retain the title so a magnificent feat to not only win the title but to defend it as well.
